Drass, October 2: As part of Reform Utsav and in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a Special Gram Sabha was held today at Gram Panchayat Thasgam, in accordance with the scheduled programme approved by the District Magistrate, Drass.
The meeting was chaired by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Drass, and was attended by officers and officials representing various line departments of Bhimbat Block, besides local residents and other stakeholders.
During the Gram Sabha, representatives of different departments briefed the participants in detail about various government schemes, welfare programmes and public services being implemented for the benefit of the people. They also explained the eligibility criteria and procedures for availing benefits under the respective schemes and encouraged residents to actively participate in developmental programmes.
The meeting also reviewed and discussed various ongoing developmental activities and local issues concerning the area. Participants were encouraged to raise their concerns and developmental requirements before the concerned departments for appropriate consideration and necessary action.
Special emphasis was laid on cleanliness, sanitation and responsible waste management. The participants were sensitised about the provisions of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026, including proper waste disposal and source segregation, with an appeal to actively contribute towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The Gram Sabha concluded with an emphasis on strengthening public participation, inter-departmental coordination and community involvement to ensure effective implementation of developmental and welfare initiatives at the grassroots level
