Leh, March -1 : Councillor Parkachik, LAHDC Kargil, Aga Ainul Hudda, met with Union Finance Minister and Managing Director of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to discuss key developmental concerns, including tourism promotion and avalanche protection measures for NH-301.
During the meetings, Councillor Hudda emphasized the need for enhanced infrastructure to support tourism growth in Kargil, highlighting the region’s untapped potential as a premier tourist destination. He urged central authorities to introduce special schemes and investments that could transform Kargil into a major attraction for visitors.
Another key issue raised was the necessity of avalanche protection measures along NH-301, a crucial route connecting Kargil to Zanskar. Frequent avalanches pose significant risks to travelers and disrupt essential connectivity, particularly during harsh winters. Councillor Hudda requested urgent intervention to implement advanced safety mechanisms, ensuring year-round accessibility and improved road safety for commuters.
