Kargil, February 28: Administrator, Municipal Committee of Kargil (MC-Kargil), Imteeaz Kacho, conducted an extensive inspection of snow clearance operations across various municipal areas of Kargil town.
During his visit, he assessed the situation at key locations, including Baroo, Fatima Chowk, Islamia School Chowk, Main Market, Lal Chowk, Lchangra Bazaar, and the riverbank area. The inspection aimed to ensure smooth operations and address any inconveniences faced by the public and commuters. District Traffic Inspector Mohammad Nissar accompanied him at most locations.
While interacting with MC-Kargil workers on the ground and at the MC-Yard, Kacho commended their dedication and urged them to remain on high alert to tackle any emergencies. He acknowledged their efforts in starting snow clearance operations early in the morning and emphasized the importance of maintaining uninterrupted connectivity in coordination with the Traffic Police.
Highlighting the administration’s proactive approach, Kacho stated that vital roads, including Hospital Road, have already been cleared. He credited the committed workforce of MC-Kargil for ensuring that major roads and lanes remain accessible. He also noted that teams have been deployed at key locations such as Gongma Kargil, Byamathang, and Kargil Bazaar to keep roads traffic-worthy.
Under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, the District Administration is prioritizing the clearance of main roads in coordination with other departments to streamline traffic movement and prevent disruptions in essential services. Special attention has been given to clearing roads leading to examination centers for 10th and 12th-grade students to ensure smooth access for students and staff.
Kacho urged residents to cooperate with MC-Kargil workers, exercise patience during operations, and take necessary precautions while clearing snow from rooftops to avoid accidents or damage. He also appealed to the public to refrain from unnecessary vehicle parking in markets and on roads to prevent risks from falling snow.
Assuring that MC-Kargil remains committed to keeping all roads, lanes, and by-lanes clear, Kacho reaffirmed that teams will stay on high alert to tackle any further snowfall. The administration is determined to maintain uninterrupted connectivity despite weather challenges and is prepared to handle any unforeseen situations.
