Nubra, June 8: Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal reviewed the power supply situation in the district amid rising electricity demand during the peak tourist season.
Chairing a meeting with officials of the Power Development Department (PDD) and the Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA), the Deputy Commissioner discussed issues such as voltage fluctuations, occasional power tripping and increased load on the electricity network.
He emphasized the need to ensure uninterrupted and reliable power supply, particularly to healthcare facilities and other essential public institutions where continuous electricity is critical for service delivery.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to undertake a detailed load study and assess the existing distribution system to identify areas requiring infrastructure augmentation.
He also instructed officials to conduct inspections of households and commercial establishments consuming electricity beyond their sanctioned load to improve load management and reduce stress on the power network during the tourist season.
The meeting was attended by SDM Nubra Jigmet Raftan, former Deputy CEC Tsering Angchuk, officials of PDD and LREDA, and representatives from Diskit and Hunder villages.
