Kargil, April 15, 2026: The Apricot Blossom Festival 2026 concluded on a vibrant note at Goma Minjee, celebrating the region’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and growing appeal as a premier spring tourism destination in Ladakh.
Organized as part of a UT-wide series by the Department of Tourism, the event brought together domestic and international tourists, locals, and stakeholders amid breathtaking apricot orchards in full bloom. The festival offered a blend of immersive experiences, including guided village walks, heritage trails, and scenic cycling tours, allowing visitors to engage closely with the region’s environment and traditions.
The venue featured lively stalls displaying handloom and handicrafts, apricot-based delicacies, and traditional cuisine, providing a platform for local artisans and entrepreneurs. Interactive storytelling sessions by local elders enriched the experience, offering insights into the region’s history, folklore, and lifestyle.
Soft adventure activities such as nature walks, short treks, and riverside experiences added to the day’s attractions. Orchard picnics and designated blossom-viewing points emerged as major highlights, especially for photography enthusiasts capturing the fleeting bloom.
Tourists also participated in hands-on activities, including traditional cooking demonstrations and tasting sessions of apricot-based products, adding a unique cultural dimension to the festival.
The concluding day witnessed a strong turnout, with visitors praising the scenic beauty and warm hospitality of the local community. Assistant Director Tourism Kargil, Muhammad Ali Tak, along with other officials, interacted with tourists, travel trade representatives, influencers, and vloggers, highlighting efforts to promote Kargil as a distinctive spring destination.
The Department of Tourism expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, volunteers, and participants for ensuring the smooth conduct of the festival, while several contributors were felicitated for their support.
The successful programme at Goma Minjee reflects Ladakh’s rising prominence on the tourism map, where nature, culture, and community come together to create memorable experiences.
