Indore: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, called upon India’s youth to take the lead in steering the nation towards a self-reliant and modern Viksit Bharat 2047. Addressing the Fifth Convocation of SAGE University in Indore, the LG said young Indians must “adopt, innovate and lead with responsibility” as the country enters a decisive phase of development.
Speaking to graduating students, LG Kavinder stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadmap for Viksit Bharat places youth at the centre of national progress. The next two decades, he said, will determine India’s global standing, and the younger generation must convert their learning into meaningful service.
He reminded students that a convocation marks not an end, but the beginning of applying knowledge with purpose and values. “The success of Viksit Bharat depends on how effectively our youth transform knowledge into innovation and innovation into impact,” he noted.
Highlighting the critical role of innovation, skills and futuristic education, the LG said today’s youth must evolve into creators and leaders capable of strengthening India’s technological and economic foundations.
Turning to Ladakh’s own development, LG Kavinder said the Union Territory is emerging as India’s frontier hub of innovation, particularly in renewable energy, mountain ecology, climate research and education. Ladakh, he said, has made significant strides in modernising schools, integrating technology into teaching and expanding access to quality higher education.
He reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to building an ecosystem where young people become job creators, not just job seekers—leading entrepreneurship, research and sustainable growth in the Himalayan region.
The LG also praised SAGE University for its rapid progress, modern facilities and strong industry linkages. The institution’s achievements, he said, reflect the spirit of a confident and self-reliant India. Earlier in the ceremony, he awarded degrees to graduating students, including 5 D.Litt., 35 Ph.D. and numerous postgraduate and undergraduate recipients across disciplines such as Management, Journalism, Technology, Agriculture, Law and Advanced Computing.
Chancellor Er. Sanjeev Agrawal congratulated the graduating class, noting that the University’s NAAC A+ accreditation reflects its commitment to quality education and holistic development. He expressed confidence that students would contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
The convocation was attended by several dignitaries, including Padma Shri awardee and Space Commission Chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar, MPPURC Chairman Khem Singh Daheriya, Padma Shri recipient Anuradha Paudwal and senior academic and industry leaders.
