Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Launches AIIMS Super Speciality Medical Camp at SNM Hospital, Welcoming 29 Distinguished Faculty Members from Delhi

Leh: Deputy Chairman of LAHDC Leh, Shri Tsering Angchuk, inaugurated the AIIMS Super Speciality Medical Camp at SNM Hospital, Leh, organized in collaboration with Asoka Mission.
The visit is scheduled from 15th to 21st September 2025, with activities to be held at SNM Hospital, Leh, from 15th to 18th September, and at SDH, Nubra, on 19th and 20th September. The camp features 29 distinguished faculty members from AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, and Patel Chest Institute, New Delhi, providing advanced medical care to the people of Ladakh.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp before the portrait of the revered Ven. Lama Lobzang, honoring his lifelong dedication to healthcare and community service.
Also present at the ceremony were Asoka Mission President Shri Thupstan Chhewang, General Secretary Shri Tashi Motup, ADDC Leh Shri Sonam Nurboo, CPO Leh Shri Tsewang Gailson, CMO Leh Dr. Dolma Chuskit, Director Health Dr. Tashi Thinles, MS SNM Leh Dr. Rinchen Chosdol, and I/C MS SNM Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk, who welcomed the specialist doctors and participated in the lamp-lighting ceremony.
On behalf of the Council, Shri Tsering Angchuk welcomed the visiting specialist doctors and expressed gratitude to the Asoka Mission for their continued support in preserving and promoting Ven. Lama Lobzang’s legacy. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in ensuring advanced medical services reach remote areas of Ladakh and appreciated the local medical staff and young professionals for their role in making the camp a reality.
Shri Thupstan Chhewang, President of Asoka Mission and Former MP, paid tribute to late Padma Shri, Ven. Lama Lobzang, highlighting how his legacy has benefited thousands of people in Ladakh. He welcomed all the doctors present, expressed hope that such medical camps continue in the future, and extended heartfelt gratitude to LAHDC and the staff of SNM Hospital. Shri Thupstan Chhewang also specifically thanked Hon’ble CEC for his unwavering financial support to the Asoka Mission.
Dr. Amlesh Seth, Professor & Head, Department of Urology, shared his experiences during previous medical camps in Ladakh, reflecting on their positive impact on the local population and the importance of continuing such initiatives.
Dr. Kaushal Kumar Verma, Dean & HOD of Dermatology & Venereology, also paid tribute to Ven. Lama Lobzang for his enduring legacy in providing healthcare to the poor and needy, emphasizing the significance of service to society.
The specialist doctors were felicitated and welcomed with traditional Ladakhi scarves and tokens of appreciation, reflecting the community’s deep respect and gratitude for their selfless service.
The AIIMS Super Speciality Medical Camp demonstrates the collaborative efforts of LAHDC and Asoka Mission, ensuring high-quality healthcare reaches even the remotest corners of Ladakh, while continuing the vision and legacy of Ven. Lama Lobzang.
