Kargil: Deputy Commissioner and CEO of LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, today chaired a detailed review meeting to assess the preparedness for the 78th Independence Day celebrations in the district.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including SSP Kargil Shree Ram R, ADC Kargil Imteaaz Kacho, Joint Director Finance and CCF Iftikhar Hussain, SDMs virtually, and other sectoral heads and district officers.
DC Rakesh emphasized the need for a well-coordinated and comprehensive plan to ensure all essential arrangements are in place well in advance.
Key directions were given to organize the march past, commentary proceedings, decoration, seating, transport, parking, electricity, water supply, medical aid, fire and emergency services, as well as installation of Public Address System and hoardings.
Security was a top priority, with instructions to ensure fool-proof arrangements around the venue. The DC also highlighted the importance of media management, issuance of security passes, and smooth entry protocols for VVIPs, VIPs, and participants.
The march past will feature 25 contingents from schools and three from the Ladakh Police, complemented by cultural performances by LAACL and the Education Department.
DC Rakesh directed the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Forest departments to install sufficient floral decorations and called for wide distribution of national flags to attendees.
On recognizing achievers, the DC urged the panel committee to include UPSC, IIT, NEET, and other prestigious exam qualifiers alongside march past winners and district awardees.
Preparations for Independence Day events across all subdivisions were also reviewed, with a call for close coordination among departments. Special attention was requested for timely delivery of invitation cards and proper seating arrangements adhering to protocol.
Additionally, the Municipal Committee Kargil was tasked with ensuring cleanliness and sanitation at Khree Sultan Cho Stadium, the main venue for celebrations. The DC also urged the participation of all government employees, students, and the general public to make the event a grand success.
Through these comprehensive directions, DC Rakesh aims to ensure a smooth, secure, and memorable Independence Day celebration across Kargil district.
