Leh, June 13: A significant review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, to discuss the forthcoming installation of a statue of His Holiness the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche at KBR Airport, Leh.
The review was attended by key officials including Sh. A. Umasankar, Airport Director Leh; Sh. Abhishek KR Singh AGM, EIL; Sh. Lobzang Yountan, Executive Engineer, Public Works R&B; Architect Rinchen Dorje (D. Lonpo), and sculptor Tsering Gyurmet.
Emphasizing the importance of this project, Hon’ble CEC stressed that the statue must be constructed with utmost attention to quality, craftsmanship, and aesthetic value, ensuring that it stands as a lasting symbol of Bakula Rinpoche’s legacy. He also assured full support from LAHDC Leh for the timely and smooth execution of the project.
Detailed discussions were held on various technical and design aspects of the installation, such as the dimensions and aesthetics of the statue, choice of materials for long-term durability, engineering specifications for the pedestal foundation, and its positioning to ensure maximum visibility for travelers and visitors at the airport.
Each of these elements was thoroughly examined to ensure that the final structure reflects the dignity and spiritual stature of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche.
Once completed, the statue at KBR Airport will not only pay tribute to Bakula Rinpoche’s extraordinary life and contributions but will also serve as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations and a prominent landmark for all those arriving in Ladakh.
H’CEC further directed the concerned agencies to expedite the process and ensure that the installation is completed without unnecessary delays.
