Dras: In a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War, the Indian Army’s ‘Forever in Operations Division’ conducted a commemorative expedition to the iconic Tololing Peak on 11th June 2025, as a run-up to the 26th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The expedition was flagged off from the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, a symbol of valour and sacrifice, and retraced the historic path taken by Indian soldiers during the fierce Battle of Tololing—a decisive conflict that marked a crucial turning point in Operation VIJAY.
A dedicated team of 30 soldiers, drawn from various units that took part in the original battle, scaled the heights of Tololing and hoisted the Tricolour atop the peak in a solemn gesture of honour to their fallen comrades.
The Indian Air Force also joined this tribute by fielding officers and airmen for the expedition, showcasing the enduring synergy and jointmanship of the Indian Armed Forces.
As the nation prepares to observe the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas later this July, the expedition serves not just as a military gesture, but as a powerful reminder of the valour, patriotism, and selfless service that continue to define the Indian Army.
This journey to Tololing was not merely a physical conquest but a symbolic pilgrimage of remembrance, aiming to inspire the younger generation with tales of bravery that have shaped India’s military legacy.
