Leh: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, chaired a meeting to discuss various developmental issues in the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk. The meeting was attended by Sh. Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS, Principal Secretary School Education; Sh. Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, Administrative Secretary; CEO Leh, Sonam Wangchuk; and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Tsering Tashi.
Director School Education, Tsering Paldan, and Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, joined the meeting online.
Key issues discussed included the shortage of Physical Education Teachers (PETs) in schools under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. The members explored options to address the shortage through outsourcing or under the SAMAGRA scheme, including the possibility of amending recruitment rules (RR) for PETs. The recruitment of Bhoti teachers under the scheme was also discussed.
Tourism development was another major point of discussion. Officials considered ways to bring the tourism inventory, including guesthouses and hotels, under the industrial tariff segment to provide necessary benefits to the sector.
The meeting also covered enhancing the salaries of teachers working at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and discussed policy improvements for the handloom sector, including its recruitment rules.
The meeting focused on finding solutions and exploring policy measures to strengthen education, tourism, and industry in Leh district.
