Kargil, March 4: A delegation from the College Teacher Association (CTA) Ladakh, led by its President Nasiruddin Khafi, met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha, at his residence in Purig Guest House, Kurbathang, Kargil to discuss pressing issues concerning college teachers.
The delegation included Nasir Shabani, Tsewang Gyaltsan, and Aga Syed Mussavi, all Assistant Professors at Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil. The meeting served as a platform for a constructive dialogue on key academic and administrative matters affecting faculty members across the region.
Welcoming the Vice Chancellor, Nasiruddin Khafi congratulated him on his appointment and expressed confidence that his visionary leadership would drive the University and its affiliated colleges towards academic excellence.
During the discussion, the delegation highlighted crucial issues, including administrative authority, service records, placement and promotion policies, transfer guidelines, and in-service PhD permissions. They also raised concerns regarding the deputation of college teachers to the University and submitted a memorandum detailing their demands.
Prof. Kushwaha acknowledged the concerns of the teachers and assured them that matters within his jurisdiction would be addressed on priority. He also committed to taking up issues requiring government intervention with the Secretary, Higher Education and other relevant authorities.
In his concluding remarks, the Vice Chancellor urged CTA members to continue their dedicated service towards students and academia. He reiterated his commitment to fostering a supportive academic environment and ensuring professional growth opportunities for college educators in Ladakh.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their resolve to work collaboratively for the betterment of higher education in the region.
