Kargil, April 9 : As part of the ongoing Khidmat-e-Awaam initiative, a public outreach programme under Prashan Gaon Ki Ore was conducted today at Panchayat Ghar Thangdumbur, Sankoo.
The programme witnessed the presence of Worthy SDM Sankoo, Shri Waseem Ramzan Dar (JKAS) and all officers of Sub Division Sankoo.
At the outset, all officers and the general public of village Thangdumbur were warmly welcomed on behalf of the Sankoo Administration. Thereafter, officers from various departments were invited to address the gathering and create awareness among the public regarding the services and schemes available under their respective departments.
Representatives from the Health Department familiarized the public with various healthcare schemes and services available for their benefit, such as Ayushman Bharat Cards, free medicines, and vaccination programmes.
During the interaction session, some participants from village Thangdumber requested that free medical check-ups for elderly persons, especially septuagenarians, be conducted at their doorsteps, as was done earlier.
Responding to their concerns, the concerned Medical Officer informed that a nearby Medical Sub-Centre is well-equipped to provide such services. He further stated that ASHA workers are also actively engaged in facilitating healthcare services at the grassroots level and can assist elderly patients in accessing these facilities.
Similarly, the Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) highlighted and elaborated upon various farmer-oriented schemes available under the Agriculture Department. These included schemes such as PM-KISAN, Ladakh Greenhouse Initiative, and vermicompost pits, among others. The officer explained these schemes in the local dialect for better understanding and urged the public to avail themselves of these benefits.
During the interaction session, some residents raised concerns that the PROM organic manure distributed through the Cooperative Department resulted in lower crop yield, promoted the growth of thorny weeds, and remained partially undecomposed in their fields.
Responding to these concerns, representatives from the Agriculture and Cooperative Departments informed the public that an initiative has been undertaken across the UT to gradually shift from chemical fertilizers to organic alternatives. They clarified that while the initial application of PROM may result in comparatively lower yield, its continued use improves soil health and fertility over time, ultimately leading to better and sustainable agricultural productivity.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, wherein the participants appreciated the efforts of the administration in bringing governance to their doorstep. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to continue such outreach initiatives to ensure effective delivery of services and timely redressal of public grievances
