Kargil: Under the initiative “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, the Khidmat-e-Awam Programme was organised today at village Shilekchey where officials of the District Administration reached out to the public at their doorsteps to address grievances on the spot.
The day-long public outreach programme was led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil, Jahangir Akhoon, including Councillor Poyen Mohd Amin BDO Kargil and officers grom various departments including PDD, RDD, I&FC, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cooperative, Horticulture, Agriculture, and other line departments and banks.
In the first phase of the programme, ACR Kargil Jahangir Akhoon briefed the gathering about the objectives and agenda of the initiative. He informed the public that, on the directions of the Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, the District Administration has launched this programme to ensure direct engagement between government officials and citizens. He emphasised that grievances requiring immediate attention would be resolved on the spot, while matters needing higher-level intervention would be taken up with the concerned departmental heads. Councillor Poyen thanked officers from various Departments for comming at the door step of the people. He said this initiative will help villagers to resolve their issues.
Officers from various departments also apprised the public about ongoing welfare schemes, aiming to create awareness about their benefits and ensure maximum enrolment of eligible beneficiaries.
During the interaction, representatives from adjoining villages of Shilekchey including Hundurman Brok also raised several issues and grievances. The concerns mainly pertained to road connectivity, irrigation and water channels, upgradation of school and sports infrastructure, realignment of electric poles, drinking water supply under JJM, agricultural land issues, and other village-specific developmental matters.
Later, the ACR along with officers visited various locations within the village of Shilekchey and Hundurman to personally listen to the grievances of the residents. ACR issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned departmental officers to address the issues on a priority basis.
The second phase of the programme, popularly known as “Sham-e-Awam”, was held in the evening, during which villagers again gathered to deliberate on the future development plans of the village Shilekchey in consultation with the administration. The discussion primarily focused on maintaining cleanliness and environmental hygiene in the village.
The programme was widely appreciated by the residents for bringing governance closer to the people and for fostering participatory planning at the grassroots level.
