Leh, April 6: A sensitisation workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) was organised in Leh by the National Institute of Disaster Management in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, UT Ladakh.
The workshop was held in the presence of Madhup Vyas, who emphasised the importance of preparedness, community participation and resilience in disaster-prone regions like Ladakh.
Shekhar Chaturvedi delivered a session on institutional mechanisms, disaster planning and the Disaster Management Act, while Nazia Khan highlighted digital initiatives, including e-learning platforms and online disaster management courses.
Participants from agencies such as National Disaster Response Force, Central Reserve Police Force, and Indo-Tibetan Border Police actively engaged in discussions on disaster preparedness and Ladakh-specific challenges.
In his concluding remarks, Madhup Vyas stressed the need for effective utilisation of knowledge and informed participants about an upcoming conference on April 18 focusing on disaster management authorities.
