Kargil: Final preparations are underway for the Vijay Diwas Padyatra to be held on July 26 in Drass, commemorating the valour of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1999 Kargil War. A key coordination meeting was held today at the Tourist Dak Bungalow, co-chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS), and Director of Youth Services and Sports, Vandita Panday.
The meeting saw participation from top officials, including SSP Kargil Shri Ram R (IPS), SDM Drass, and heads of various departments. Discussions focused on ensuring smooth execution of the patriotic march, with a special emphasis on student involvement and youth engagement.
DC Rakesh Kumar emphasized that the event must be “a true reflection of patriotism and the legacy of sacrifice” that Vijay Diwas stands for.
Plans reviewed included transport for participants, medical and security arrangements, traffic management, cultural performances, and media coordination. The SDM Drass was appointed the nodal officer to oversee the entire event.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to honor the heroes of Kargil with a meaningful and well-coordinated tribute on July 26.
