Leh, June 22, 2025:
Hon’ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson met with the Hon’ble Minister for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal during the latter’s visit to Ladakh. The meeting focused on key legal and administrative issues concerning the Union Territory.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble CEC discussed various Ladakh specific issues including the need for Ladakh to have adequate representation in the High Court judiciary. He also highlighted the importance of setting up circuit benches in Ladakh to improve access to justice. Additionally, he requested the opening of a dedicated Sub-Registrar Office in Leh to streamline registration processes.
Later, the Hon’ble CEC, led representatives of the Ladakh Bar Association met the Hon’ble Minister to discuss specific concerns faced by the legal fraternity in the region.
On the same day, Hon’ble CEC Tashi Gyalson led a delegation from the All Ladakh Religious Women Wing Association, which includes Kunzes Dolma Jawo, President of the Women Wing of Ladakh Buddhist Association; Nasreen Maryam, President of the Women Wing of Anjuman Imamia; Aisha Malo, President of the Women Wing of Anjuman-e-Moin-ul-Islam; Sumita Dhana, President of the Women Wing of the Christian Association and Vice President LBA Kunzes Dolma met the Hon’ble Minister. They discussed a number of region-specific legal and social issues, particularly those concerning women.
As part of the day’s engagements, Hon’ble Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Hon’ble CEC Tashi Gyalson, and Hon’ble Member of Parliament Smt. Sandhya Ray, visited the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre. They interacted with Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena and attended a programme at the Mahabodhi School campus.
During the event, the Hon’ble CEC was also felicitated for his continued support and promotion of the International Day of Yoga and for encouraging wider participation across the region.
The Hon’ble Minister assured full support from the Ministry of Law and Justice in addressing the matters raised during his visit. He stated that necessary steps will be taken to strengthen legal institutions in Ladakh, explore the possibility of circuit benches, and consider the request for a dedicated Sub-Registrar Office in Leh.
