Kargil, June 12, 2025 – In Ladakh, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Srinagar Bench, commenced its 3rd three-day Circuit Sitting from June 10, 2025 that concluded on June 12, 2025 at the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Kargil, marking another significant step towards ensuring accessible and speedy justice for government employees of remote areas.
The Division Bench, comprising Hon’ble Mr. M.S. Latif (Judicial Member) and Hon’ble Mr. Prasant Kumar (Administrative Member), conducted proceedings in a hybrid mode—allowing both physical and virtual appearances.
A total of 63 cases were listed before the Bench in three days, out of which 14 cases were disposed off during the Circuit Sitting.
Seven new cases were filed on the spot during the Circuit Sitting before the CAT and prompt and appropriate orders were passed by the Bench.
Head of Office, CAT Srinagar, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Jha, while speaking to the media, stated that the response from the Govt employees of Kargil was overwhelmingly positive as it reflected the concept of justice at the doorstep.
“Aggrieved employees were highly appreciative of this justice at doorstep initiative. The encouraging response and the disposal of 14 cases during the Circuit Sitting reflect the Tribunal’s commitment to timely redressal of service-related grievances,” he said.
Highlighting the Tribunal’s forward-looking approach, Mr. Jha informed that Circuit Sittings will now be held in Kargil every alternate month from April to October this year. He expected that the government employees, if aggrieved, will avail themselves of this facility as CAT was established with the aim to ensure swift resolution of service matters for public servants.
Mr. Jha, on behalf of CAT, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration Kargil, including the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Secretary Law and Justice UT Ladakh, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SP Kargil, Director Protocol Ladakh, CEO and Accounts Officer of the Kargil Development Authority, and the Chief Medical Officer Kargil and all those who contributed silently in holding the Circuit Sitting at Kargil. He also acknowledged their exceptional cooperation and support in making the Circuit Sitting a resounding success.
This initiative marks a crucial step toward bridging the justice delivery gap for employees in remote regions, reinforcing CAT’s role as a citizen-centric judicial institution.
