Leh: The Tibetan Children’s Village School, Leh, organised a heartfelt “Thank you India, Thank you Ladakh” program, where the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, was honored as the Chief Guest. The event served as a testament to the strong bond between the Tibetan community in exile and the local administration.
Also in attendance were School Director, Sh. Tenzin Rapten; TCV School Leh Principal, Sh. Dhondul Jigme; and CRO Sh.Tashi Dhondup, alongside the contractor and engineer overseeing the LAHDC-funded school playground project. The event saw cultural presentations, including songs and dances.
Another highlight of the event was the felicitation of Hon’ble CEC Tashi Gyalson, acknowledging LAHDC’s consistent support for various infrastructural developments at the school. This includes the significant Rs. 4.5 crore playground project, currently underway in anticipation of the school’s upcoming golden jubilee celebration.
In his address to the students and faculty, Hon’ble CEC reaffirmed the council’s commitment to inclusive development. He said that the support extended to the Tibetan community is a small gesture of gratitude for their longstanding support to Ladakh, acknowledging that His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s contribution is immeasurable.
H’CEC further stated that Ladakh’s status as a Union Territory has allowed the council to introduce various welfare projects, especially for marginalized groups. He highlighted the deep and ongoing bond between the Ladakhi and Tibetan communities and promised to strengthen this relationship.
He also praised TCV Schools for staying rooted in culture while achieving the highest student enrollment in the country, crediting their inclusive approach for this success. Sharing his vision for the students, H’CEC Tashi Gyalson mentioned the council’s continuous efforts through various beneficiary-oriented projects and the appointment of a dedicated Executive Councillor for the Tibetan Community to address their needs.
In closing, he expressed hope for continued unity and growth, guided by the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and called for collective efforts towards a more inclusive and prosperous Ladakh. He also emphasized the timely completion of the playground.
