Leh : The Director of School Education, Tsering Paldan (JKAS), presented a proposal to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd) for the posting of recently promoted Principals, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and Deputy Chief Education Officers (DyCEOs) at the Lt Governor’s Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Director highlighted the introduction of a new point-based system to ensure transparency in the posting process. The system considers the last three postings of each candidate and allocates points based on the distance of their workplace from the district headquarters. The initiative aims to fill vacant leadership positions in headless schools, with ten schools currently in need of principals.
The Lt Governor appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of student-centric education policies. He stressed the need to prioritize the posting of principals in schools with a higher number of students rather than institutions like DIET Kargil. He further directed the School Education Department to expedite pending promotion cases to ensure that vacant posts at DIET Kargil, GHSS Choskore, and GHSS Phey are filled at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr. L Franklin, IAS; Secretary GAD, Michael D’Souza, IAS; and Director School Education, Tsering Paldan, JKAS.
The proposal is expected to enhance the functioning of schools in Ladakh by addressing long-pending vacancies and ensuring effective leadership across educational institutions.
