Leh, September 28, 2026: The photo exhibition ‘Ladakh, Living Through the Lens’, organised as part of the ongoing Ladakh Festival 2026, continued to attract local residents and tourists on the third day of the festival at Rang Thag, Leh, offering a visual journey through Ladakh’s landscapes, cultural heritage, traditions and changing way of life.
Organised by the Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh, in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and Incredible India, the exhibition was inaugurated on September 26 by Director, Tourism & Culture, UT Ladakh, Tashi Dolma, in the presence of Administrative Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Sanjeet Rodrigues, and Deputy Director, Tourism & Culture, Mohd Taqi, among others.
The exhibition features a curated collection of photographs by renowned Ladakhi photographer Dorjey Kaya, whose work documents the region’s landscapes, people and cultural traditions over more than three decades. Spanning the period from 2000 to 2026, the collection captures Ladakh’s evolving character and the interplay between its timeless heritage and modern transition.
The photographs showcase a diverse range of subjects, including monasteries, festivals, remote villages, the historic Silk Route, the Chadar Trek, shepherds and pastoral communities, traditional weaving, harvest seasons, rivers and the region’s distinctive landscapes. The exhibition also presents visual narratives of Ladakh’s changing settlements, cultural practices and livelihoods, offering visitors an insight into the region’s rich history and contemporary life.
The exhibition has provided a platform for residents, tourists and cultural enthusiasts to experience Ladakh through the lens of its local photographer, highlighting the importance of documenting and preserving the region’s cultural and natural heritage. Open to the public, it continues to offer visitors an opportunity to explore Ladakh’s diverse identity through photography.
