LEH, July 6, 2026 — The 91st Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was celebrated today with profound devotion, enthusiasm, and grand festivity at Jivetsal, Choglamsar, Leh. Organized by Ladakh Buddhist Association in collaboration with Ladakh Gonpa Association and Central Tibetan Administration, the momentous occasion drew thousands of devotees who gathered from across the world to offer prayers, celebrate the spiritual leader’s life, and seek his blessings.
The celebration was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, alongside senior government officials, religious leaders, and community elders.
The birthday celebrations were further enlivened by a series of vibrant cultural programs. Students from TCV Leh, alongside local Ladakhi and Tibetan community artists, showcased the region’s rich heritage through traditional dances and musicals. A highlight of the festivities was a special theatrical performance of ‘Angulimala’ by Ladakh Theater Organisation.
The day continued with people coming together joyfully to celebrate throughout the day.
