Kargil, June 8: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, participated in a bicycle rally organised to mark World Bicycle Day, highlighting the importance of fitness, environmental conservation and sustainable lifestyles.
The rally, organised by the Sports Authority of India Training Centre Kargil, started from the Council Secretariat and concluded at Kurbathang, attracting enthusiastic participation from youth, cyclists and government officials.
The event also coincided with activities being organised under World Environment Day celebrations in Kargil, including cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns.
Addressing participants, Dr Akhoon emphasised the health and environmental benefits of cycling, describing it as an effective means of reducing pollution, conserving fuel and promoting physical fitness.
Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar highlighted the importance of integrating cycling into daily life and said such initiatives support the national vision of sustainable and healthy living.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to promote cycling, maintain cleanliness and contribute towards a greener and healthier Kargil.
