Zanskar, April 27, 2026: A meeting was convened today under the chairmanship of the Tourist Officer, Zanskar, Sh. Ghulam Rasool Lal, to deliberate on key aspects concerning the development and regulation of tourism in the region.
The primary agenda of the meeting focused on creating awareness about the Guest–Host relationship, with special emphasis on maintaining courteous behavior towards visitors, adopting responsible tourism practices, ensuring proper hygiene, and upholding high service standards. The discussions also highlighted the crucial role of stakeholders in enhancing the overall tourist experience in Zanskar.
During the meeting, the Tourist Officer, who is also the Prescribed Authority under the Tourist Trade Act, strongly emphasized the mandatory registration and timely renewal of all tourism-related units under the Act. He clearly stated that any unit operating without valid registration shall not be permitted to function.
The meeting witnessed active participation from the President of the All Travel & Trade Alliance Zanskar along with members of its Executive Body. Various stakeholders, including hoteliers, guest house operators, homestay owners, travel and tour operators, taxi and tempo drivers, and other associated individuals, were also present.
The session concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards promoting sustainable and responsible tourism in Zanskar while ensuring compliance with regulatory norms.
