Kargil, April 20, 2026: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar chaired a review meeting on the Aspirational Block Programme for Karsha block of Zanskar at his office chamber today.

The meeting was attended by senior district officers, while Sub-Divisional Magistrate Zanskar and other block-level officials joined through virtual mode.

During the meeting, a detailed review of key sectors including health, nutrition, education, agriculture, water supply, and financial inclusion was conducted.

In the health sector, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed indicators related to antenatal care, institutional deliveries, low birth weight cases, and non-communicable diseases. Concern was raised regarding gaps in registration of pregnant women, and officials were directed to verify data and ensure timely and accurate registration. ASHA workers were instructed to identify social factors such as stigma and taboos affecting registrations and take corrective measures.

The DC emphasized the need for accurate and real-time data entry on various portals, including Poshan Tracker, NCD, and TB monitoring systems. Officials were directed to strengthen screening and reporting mechanisms for diseases like diabetes and tuberculosis, and ensure proper follow-up and treatment.

On nutrition, the meeting reviewed the implementation of supplementary nutrition under ICDS, including Take Home Ration (THR) and hot cooked meals. The DC directed that nutrition services must be delivered efficiently and reflected accurately on portals to maintain consistency between field performance and reported data. Stress was laid on maintaining zero malnutrition status through timely interventions.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed concerned departments to track and update data related to children and ensure complete coverage of all beneficiaries.

Emphasis was laid on teamwork and coordination among departments to achieve desired outcomes.

Reviewing infrastructure utilization, the DC suggested shifting operations from rented accommodations to available government buildings to optimize resources and improve efficiency.

In the education sector, officials were directed to update UDISE data, particularly for Children With Special Needs (CWSN), and ensure deployment of special educators. The DC also stressed improvement of basic infrastructure, including availability of girls’ toilets, and enhancement of academic performance. Special focus was laid on supporting students appearing in compartment examinations by providing hostel facilities and academic guidance to ensure better results.

The meeting also reviewed progress in agriculture, including Soil Health Cards, and assessed the status of water supply, BharatNet connectivity, and functioning of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the block. Banking services and financial inclusion initiatives were also discussed.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Zanskar to closely monitor data portals and ensure timely corrective measures wherever required. All departments were instructed to work in close coordination, ensure data accuracy, and achieve targets in a time-bound manner.
