Kargil, April 15: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena handed over appointment letters to 200 newly selected candidates at a Rozgar Mela held at Syed Mehdi Auditorium Hall.
Congratulating the appointees and their families, the Lieutenant Governor described the appointments as the beginning of a lifelong responsibility to serve the nation.
He informed that recruitment for 1,385 posts was announced last year, with 710 appointments completed so far, including 200 candidates from Kargil.
He added that advertisements for 34 Sub-Inspector and 331 Constable posts will be issued soon, with age relaxation up to 35 years for border youth. Recruitment for 213 teacher posts and over 500 non-gazetted posts is also underway.
For 2025, 224 gazetted posts have been advertised through UPSC, with 141 more proposed.
Quoting A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, he said while talent may differ, opportunities to develop abilities are equal.
He emphasised that government service is a responsibility to serve the weakest sections and contribute to national development. He urged appointees to work with integrity and help change negative perceptions about government jobs.
Highlighting reforms, he said steps are being taken to simplify recruitment processes and ensure transparency and efficiency.
The event was attended by CEC Kargil Dr Jaffer Akhoon, MP Ladakh Haneefa Jan, senior administrative officers and district officials.
