Kargil, March 19: Jal Mahotsav 2026 was organized on Friday in the villages of Rulpoo, Thilla and Thilla Brok in Kargil district, with a strong focus on water conservation and public awareness on water quality monitoring.
As part of the programme, a cleanliness drive was conducted at key water sources to promote hygiene and safeguard drinking water. Officials and participants also carried out Field Test Kit (FTK) testing and live demonstrations, aimed at educating locals on how to monitor water quality at the grassroots level.
The event was held under the ongoing Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada, during which a Jal Yatra was also organized across the villages. The yatra covered the entire stretch from water sources to household tap connections, highlighting the importance of maintaining clean and safe water supply systems.
Local residents actively participated in the activities, reflecting growing awareness about the need to conserve water resources. The initiative seeks to encourage sustainable and judicious use of water while strengthening community involvement in water management practices.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from both officials and villagers to protect water sources and ensure safe drinking water for all.
