Leh: Reflecting his deep reverence for Ladakh’s spiritual traditions, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta directed his Secretariat to make special arrangements for the devotees performing Gochaks (prostrations) on the sacred occasion of Tangpe Cho-nga — the 15th day of the first month of the Tibetan lunar calendar and one of the most auspicious days in the Buddhist calendar.
The arrangements were made at the Leh Gate, where batches of prostrators culminated their Gochaks, and also below the historic Tsemo Monastery. Thousands of prostrators and devotees were provided with refreshments as a gesture of support and respect for their devotion, perseverance and spiritual commitment on this auspicious occasion.
In his message, Lt. Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta emphasised the spiritual importance of alms and Seva Daan (selfless service for humanity). He stated that the distribution of refreshments to devotees is not merely a gesture of hospitality, but a humble offering rooted in the values of compassion, charity and collective responsibility taught by Lord Buddha. He added that acts of generosity nurture empathy, strengthen social bonds and reinforce the spirit of unity within society.
The Lt. Governor appealed to the people of Ladakh, especially the youth, to imbibe the teachings of Lord Buddha in their daily lives for peace, harmony and brotherhood. He underscored the continued relevance of Buddha’s teachings in today’s world, particularly in fostering mutual respect, non-violence and coexistence.
Shri Kavinder Gupta reiterated that the Administration remains committed to preserving and promoting the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Ladakh while encouraging acts of compassion and selfless service for the greater good of humanity.
