Kargil, Feb 9:
District Administration Kargil organised a training programme for revenue officers on land settlement and the Bandobast system at Baroo.
Retired ACR Barkat Ali Lone Nizami led sessions on the historical background, legal importance and administrative role of land settlement in maintaining accurate records and resolving disputes.
Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar stressed adherence to revenue norms including Record of Rights, Jamabandi, Girdawari and mutation procedures. He called for digitisation of land records and clarity in official conduct.
Officials said proper training and field implementation would help reduce disputes and simplify land acquisition processes. Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdawars and Patwaries attended the programme.
