Leh: An enforcement drive along with a public awareness programme was conducted on 17 Jan 2026 at around 7:00 PM at Leh Gate by the ARTO Leh, in coordination with police personnel, as part of National Road Safety Month 2026.
The objective of the drive was to ensure compliance with traffic rules and to promote road safety awareness among the general public. During the drive, vehicles were checked, traffic violations were addressed, and road users were sensitized about safe driving practices.
As part of the awareness initiative, road safety pamphlets were distributed among drivers, riders, and pedestrians to educate them on important traffic rules, safety measures, and responsible road behavior. Officials emphasized the use of helmets and seat belts, adherence to speed limits, and avoidance of unsafe driving practices.
The drive witnessed positive cooperation from the public. The ARTO Leh and police authorities reiterated that such enforcement and awareness activities will continue throughout National Road Safety Month 2026 in the interest of public safety and accident prevention.
