Kargil: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar today conducted an extensive tour of Barsoo Nallah to assess the status of various ongoing and proposed developmental works in the area.
He was accompanied by Executive Councillor for Education Zakir Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Imteeaz Kacho, Executive Engineer SVD, Chief Education Officer Kargil, and other concerned district officers.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected Government Middle School Pattoo and directed measures to improve the overall quality of education in line with CBSE standards. He further stated that school building works have been placed under the Capex plan, and related issues concerning construction and infrastructure will be resolved accordingly.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed irrigation kul works, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects, and nallah protection works in the area. He assured that all pending works will be explored under new schemes to ensure timely implementation. Regarding PMGSY road projects, he said the handover and takeover will be completed this year, after which the works will be transferred to the PWD department for further action.
The DC visited the source point of the JJM works and issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for necessary improvements. He added that additional road works will be placed in the next year’s district plan, subject to clearance of the proposed road alignments.
During his visit to High School Tikat, the DC reviewed the functioning of the school and directed effective utilization of staff and resources. He also listened to public grievances related to JJM works, link road construction, and the requirement of an ambulance at NTPHC. He assured that the ambulance facility will be explored on priority and directed that all genuine public demands be forwarded to the district administration for early redressal. He also instructed that the school library be opened to the public after school hours while ensuring proper maintenance.
At Middle School Pangbar, the DC interacted with local residents and listened to various public issues. He directed that the ration store at Pangbar Brok be opened at the earliest. Taking note of damages caused by recent floods, he instructed officials to explore compensation under disaster management provisions and assured that a protection bund for the village will be taken up next year.
Addressing issues of road connectivity, the DC said that the Pangbar road will be taken up on priority and directed that a complete list of all handover works pending in the district be submitted to the DC office at the earliest. He added that the Sapi–Pangbar road project has been proposed under the Central Road Fund (CRF) and will also be taken up on priority.
During his visit to Shargandi, the DC visited Schools and also assured that the construction of the Medical Sub Centre will be completed soon and dedicated to the public.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited ongoing construction work of Icho Pangbar road and directed for its early completion.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening education, improving healthcare, enhancing connectivity, and ensuring timely redressal of public grievances through sustained field visits and coordination among departments.
