Kargil, September 16 : The Departments of Urdu and English, Sankoo Campus GDC Kargil, jointly organized a special event to celebrate Hindi Diwas on 15th September 2025. Held in the Seminar Hall, the program brought together faculty and students for an engaging session that highlighted the richness of Indian languages and the enduring legacy of Hindi literature.
The event commenced with an enlightening speech by Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu. Dr. Mustafa delivered a captivating talk on Munshi Premchand, one of the most celebrated figures in Indian literature. He highlighted Premchand’s pioneering contributions to both Hindi and Urdu short stories, emphasizing the writer’s ability to portray deep social issues through simple yet powerful narratives. Dr. Mustafa spoke about Premchand’s lasting legacy and his unique position as a bridge between two linguistic traditions.
Following this, Dr. Azra Khatoon, Assistant Professor, Department of English, addressed the gathering with a speech focusing on the importance of Hindi Diwas and the significance of languages and literature in shaping cultural identity. She provided thoughtful insights into the roles played by Hindi, English, and Urdu, noting how each language contributes to India’s literary diversity and intellectual history.
Adding a creative and youthful element to the program, Ms. Arifa Batool, a student of the 5th semester, recited a Hindi poem titled “Vidhya and Gyan”. Her heartfelt performance captured the essence of learning and wisdom, and was met with warm applause from the audience.
The event concluded with the screening of the iconic short story “Kafan” by Munshi Premchand, as part of the Tehreer-e-Munshi Premchand compilation. The powerful story, known for its emotional depth and social commentary, left an impression on the viewers.
The Hindi Diwas celebration at Sankoo Campus served as a reminder of the beauty and strength of Indian languages, while honoring the literary giants who continue to inspire generations.
