Kargil: The High Altitude Adventure Guide students of GDC Kargil, Sankoo Campus successfully conducted a one-day educational hike to Lago Laa under the guidance of Instructor Mr. Shabir Ali.
The program was designed as a practical field exercise where students learned essential hiking skills like route navigation, teamwork, pacing, hydration management, and mountain safety protocols. Students also received orientation on the essential equipment required for safe hiking, including proper footwear, layered clothing, trekking poles, backpacks, and first-aid kits.
A major focus of the hike was the “Leave No Trace” principle, ensuring that students practiced responsible trekking by minimizing impact on the natural environment, managing waste properly, and respecting fragile mountain ecosystems.
This initiative not only strengthened students’ outdoor knowledge and endurance but also instilled values of environmental stewardship and leadership, which are vital for their future roles as professional adventure guides.
The college administration appreciated the efforts of the instructor and students for making the hike both educational and environmentally responsible.
