Leh: Government Degree College Khaltse successfully conducted its first-ever Student Council Elections, with enthusiastic participation from students who cast their votes for the posts of President, General Secretary, and Cashier.
The elected representatives are:
President: Mepham Dolkar of 5th semester
General Secretary: Rigzin Dorjey of 3rd semester
Cashier: Phuntsok Dorjey and Dechen Chorol of 3rd and 5th semesters respectively.
Principal Dr. Samina Iqbal congratulated the winners and advised the student representatives to work judiciously for the betterment of the college, emphasizing that participation in such elections nurtures the values of democracy and leadership. She highlighted that this council acts as a prototype of the General Elections, preparing students to take on greater responsibilities in the future.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Assistant professor, Shahnawaz Hussain expressed gratitude to all participants, students, and faculty members for their support in making the event successful. Further, he encourages the newly elected Student Executive Council to actively raise genuine student issues through proper channels, ensuring that the platform serves as a strong voice for the student community.
