Leh: Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the young skaters from Ladakh for their historic achievement at the ongoing Asian Ice Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025, being held at the Himadri Ice Rink in Dehradun.
H’CEC Tashi Gyalson expressed immense pride over the remarkable performance of 7-year-old Fahiem Mehdi from Chushot village, who created history by becoming the youngest skater from Ladakh to represent Team India at the international event and winning a bronze medal in his category. He also congratulated Madiha Mustafa (8 yrs) and Mehvish Fatima (11 yrs), who each won a bronze medal in their respective categories, bringing further glory to Ladakh and India.
The Hon’ble CEC highlighted that the participation of Ladakhi athletes in such a prestigious event which features over 150 skaters from 11 countries including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and India is a testimony to the determination, dedication, and rising sporting talent of the region.
He further acknowledged the efforts of Coach Abbass Nordakh, under whose guidance the young skaters achieved this milestone by securing three bronze medals on the very first day of the tournament, which runs from August 21 to 23, 2025.
H’CEC Tashi Gyalson lauded the achievements of these young athletes, stating that their success has brought immense pride and honour to Ladakh and to the nation, while also inspiring future generations to pursue excellence in winter sports. He assured full support from the Hill Council for nurturing the sporting talents of Ladakh.
