Kharu, August 12, 2025 – In a significant step toward controlling the stray dog population and preventing the spread of rabies, the ABC & AR team ofAnimal Husbandry Department, Leh, concluded a successful 15-day Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies (AR) camp in Kharu. During the camp, which started from July 28 to August 11, with the support of Army, the team sterilized and vaccinated a total of 574 stray dogs.
The camp’s operations were carried out efficiently and humanely, targeting both male and female dogs. Of the total, 340 males and 234 females were sterilized and vaccinated. This large-scale effort highlights a collaborative approach between the Animal Husbandry Department and the Army to improve public health and animal welfare in the Leh district.
