Kargil: CEC LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, met a delegation from Nanritam, an educational NGO working under its “Education for All” initiative to improve learning outcomes. Executive Councillor for Education Kacho Mohd Feroz also attended the meeting.
The delegation, led by General Secretary Ranjana Sengupta and Joint Secretary Sarada Namhata, shared details of their work in Leh and Kargil, including teacher training on NEP 2020 and the Holistic Progress Report Card. Their programmes focus on competency-based, child-centered education, promoting foundational literacy and numeracy in early grades, and using interactive methods for teaching science and math. They also provide health services to schoolchildren, diagnosing and treating anaemia and vision problems.
Dr. Akhoon praised the NGO’s efforts and acknowledged the challenges in transitioning from JKBOSE to CBSE. He said LAHDC Kargil and the UT Administration are committed to raising education quality and ensuring students are prepared under the new system. He assured that Nanritam’s MoU would be reviewed with stakeholders for possible wider implementation in Kargil.
