Leh: As His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is set to arrive in Ladakh on July 12, preparations are in full swing for a grand and traditional welcome by the people of Leh. A public appeal has been made to all Ladakhis and tourists currently visiting the region to gather and participate in the reception.
According to local coordinators, His Holiness will arrive via the Technical Airport, near the Indian Air Force base where the national flag proudly stands tall. From there, he will proceed towards the Civil Airport area, where the public reception is planned.
The public has been requested to assemble by 8:00 AM along the road connecting the two airports to offer their respects and receive blessings. Organisers have especially urged locals to come in traditional Ladakhi attire, and tourists are also warmly invited to witness and participate in the spiritually significant event.
Over the past two days, preparations such as putting up welcome banners, replacing old prayer flags, and decorating the reception path have been underway and are expected to be completed by this evening.
To ensure the sanctity of the occasion, a request has been made to meat and chicken shop owners along the route to keep their establishments closed between 8:00 AM and noon on July 12, until His Holiness reaches his residence. The Merchant Association has also been urged to cooperate and support this initiative by reaching out to their members.
Additionally, school principals and directors across Leh have been requested to send students to join the reception. Specific locations have been designated for schools, and students are expected to arrive by 8:00 AM to participate in the welcome ceremony.
This upcoming visit marks yet another significant spiritual and cultural moment for the people of Ladakh, as they prepare to receive blessings from one of the most revered spiritual leaders in the world.
