Leh, July 02: The Hon’ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson today chaired a high-level meeting at the Council Secretariat to discuss the arrangements for the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Ladakh.
The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Executive Councillor Stanzin Chosphel; DC/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Romil Singh Donk; SSP Traffic and In-charge DIG Leh–Kargil Range, Vikas Kumar; Senior Superintendent of Police, Security, Piyush Fulzele; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shruti Arora; Director and General Manager, Airport Authority of India, Leh, A. Umashankar; Group Captain Ajay Kumar, C Adm O, 21 Wing Air Force Station Leh; Chief Security Officer, Divyansh Pandey; Chief Airport Security Officer, CISF KBR Airport Leh, Deachen Dorjey; In-charge Operations (AAI), Navindra Sikanvar; President of Ladakh Gonpa Association, Gyen Dorje Stanzin; and Senior Vice President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Rigzin Dorjey.
The meeting included detailed discussions on various logistical, administrative, and security arrangements. The officials discussed the options for His Holiness’s arrival terminal, both the Technical Airport and the Commercial Terminal considering logistical ease, enhanced security, and smoother movement of the entourage.
The officials also deliberated on traffic regulation plans, issuance of vehicle passes, deployment of volunteers at designated parking areas, and streamlining access for working staff. Provisions for emergency response were reviewed, with directions for ambulances to remain on standby. Officials also requested the Hon’ble CEC to conduct a recce of the venue and its surrounding areas to personally review the arrangements and address any ground-level requirements. All departments were urged to work in close coordination to ensure that the visit of His Holiness is managed in an orderly, safe, and respectful manner.
