Kargil, June 18, 2025 – Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between LAHDC Kargil and Wipro Foundation Bangalore to strengthen Education sector in Kargil.
The event was attended by EC Tourism Kacho Mohd Feroz, EC Education Zakir Hussain, Chief Education Officer Kargil Sonam Wangchuk, Principal DIET S.D Wangyal, representatives from Wipro Foundation Avinash Kumar and Ashish Jha, Anup George from Azim Premji University and Preeti Chauhan from Navikru Eco Foundation.
During the meeting threadbare discussion and deliberations were done on the agenda of MOU, including felicitating Computer Education across the Government Schools of Kargil and training of resource person ICT, establishment of career development cell and long-term partnership with Azim Premji University for admissions in Higher Education on scholarship.
CEC Dr Jaffar expressed happiness over the signing of MOU between LAHDC and Wipro foundation and expressed gratitude to the foundation for initiating noble initiatives in this far off area of Ladakh.
Dr Jaffer said the idea of fellowship for creating resource persons in Computer Education is a novel idea. He added LAHDC will extend all possible support to Wipro for its initiatives under Education, Health and Environment in Kargil district.
EC Kacho Mohd Feroz shared that the experience and reputation of Wipro Foundation will definitely transform the areas under which they will be going to work in Kargil.
EC Zakir Hussain said one component at one time should be explored and worked on with utmost commitment and added to explore collaboration with Village Education Committees across for better results.
Avinash Kumar from Wipro Foundation expressed happiness over the positive outlook and openness of LAHDC in the executive of this project.
