Kargil, June 14, 2025 – In a concerted effort to promote Suru Valley as a premier tourism destination, a special luncheon event was hosted by the Councillor of Tai Suru, along with local guesthouse owners and hoteliers, in honour of the visiting delegation from the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK). The event, held at Suru Valley Resort in Biama Purtikchey, Block Taisuru, was organized by the All Kargil Travel and Trade Association (AKTTA).
The event was graced by the Hon’ble Executive Councillor (EC) for Tourism, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, who attended as the Chief Guest. Among other dignitaries present were Councillor Tai Suru Abdul Hadi, President of TAAK Mr. Rauf Ahmad Tramboo, former President Mr. Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad, executive members of TAAK, President of AKTTA Mr. Mohammad Ali, and senior members of both associations.
In his address, EC Kacho Mohammad Feroze Khan applauded AKTTA’s initiative in strengthening ties between Kashmir-based travel agents and Kargil’s tourism sector. He emphasized the immense scope of various tourism segments in Suru Valley, including domestic, international, rural, adventure, film-making, and wildlife tourism. He encouraged the TAAK delegation to act as ambassadors of Suru Valley and promote it as a unique destination on the national and global tourism map.
Councillor Abdul Hadi expressed deep gratitude to both AKTTA and TAAK for facilitating the familiarization tour and lauded the collaborative spirit of the event. He highlighted the untapped potential of Suru Valley, saying, “Our aim is to ensure that tourists don’t just pass through Suru Valley but stay and immerse themselves in its culture, heritage, and natural beauty.”
He underlined the valley’s potential for a wide range of tourism activities such as trekking, rafting, biking, and eco-tourism. “Suru is not just a stopover, it is a destination in itself,” he asserted.
Several members of the visiting TAAK delegation shared their positive impressions of Suru Valley and its unmatched hospitality. They assured that they would include Suru Valley in their future tour itineraries for both domestic and international travelers seeking serene landscapes, cultural experiences, and adventure.
