Kargil: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (Mission Shakti), under the Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, Kargil, inaugurated a three-month Computer Certificate Course for specially-abled girls at NIELIT Kargil today, as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
The launch event witnessed the presence of CDPO Kargil Parveen Akhtar, CDPO Shargole Farida Banoo, Administrative Incharge NIELIT Kargil Mehboob Ali, Gender Specialist Aamina Banoo, District Mission Coordinator Niyaz Hussain, and Financial Specialist Mansoor Hussain, along with the enrolled specially-abled children and their parents.
To ensure inclusivity and ease of access, Mission Shakti Kargil has arranged transportation for all participants, providing home-to-institute pick-and-drop services. The participants include children with locomotive disabilities, cerebral palsy, speech and hearing impairments, low vision, and intellectual disabilities.
Addressing the gathering, CDPO Parveen Akhtar encouraged the students to take the course seriously, highlighting its importance for their personal and professional growth. CDPO Farida Banoo emphasized that the initiative is a significant step toward empowering specially-abled girls through digital skills.
The classes will be conducted six days a week, scheduled after regular school hours to accommodate the students’ academic commitments.
