Kargil: The Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Govt. Degree College Drass on April 28 successfully organized a one-day Study-Cum-Exposure Tour for the 6th-semester students of BA Tourism and Travel Management program.
The educational tour, held under the academic leadership of Dr. Firdous Ahmad Shah, Assistant Professor in the department. As part of the curriculum focused on Museum and Heritage Tourism, students were taken to the Munshi Aziz Bhat Museum of Central Asian and Kargil Trade Artifacts, a renowned repository of the region’s diverse historical legacy.
The visit enabled students to engage directly with historical artifacts, manuscripts, photographs, and trade relics that chronicle the vibrant Silk Route and Ladakh’s strategic role as a crossroads of cultures.
During the visit, students were given a guided tour and an exclusive demonstration by the museum’s curatorial team, offering them a rare opportunity to understand the museum’s conservation efforts and the storytelling techniques used in heritage interpretation. This experiential learning initiative not only complemented classroom theory but also sparked academic curiosity and appreciation for cultural preservation among the students.
