Leh: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Adv. Tashi Gyalson, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi and discussed key issues concerning the region. During the meeting, he highlighted the need for increased budgetary support, infrastructure development, and improved connectivity in Ladakh.
Adv. Gyalson emphasized the necessity of additional financial assistance through the Special Development Package (SDP) to cater to the region’s growing needs. He also stressed the importance of an integrated policy for land regularization and improvements in the recruitment process, ensuring streamlined governance and development in the Union Territory.
The discussion also covered Ladakh-specific challenges, with a focus on formulating comprehensive solutions to address them effectively. One of the key concerns raised by the CEC was enhancing air connectivity in Ladakh to boost accessibility and promote tourism, which is vital for the local economy. He pointed out that with the increasing influx of tourists, better air connectivity would facilitate growth in the tourism sector and benefit local businesses.
Adv. Gyalson also apprised the Home Minister about various developmental activities undertaken in Ladakh since it became a Union Territory. He extended an invitation to Amit Shah to visit Ladakh and inaugurate multiple key projects.
During the meeting, the CEC brought up several other developmental concerns of the region, to which Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured full support, reaffirming the central government’s commitment to Ladakh’s progress and prosperity.
