Kargil: District Election Officer (DEO)/Deputy Commissioner (DC)/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, chaired a meeting with officers and political party representatives to discuss the appointment of Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
The meeting was attended by Tehsildars (AEROs) from various sub-divisions, the SVEEP Nodal Officer, Election Naib Tehsildar, AD DIPR Kargil, and representatives from AAP, BJP, INC, and JKNC.
During the meeting, the DEO highlighted the critical role of BLAs in ensuring a transparent and error-free electoral roll, as outlined by the Election Commission of India (ECI). He addressed concerns related to Electoral Rolls, EPICs, Polling Stations, BLOs, and AEROs, urging political parties to actively participate in the process.
Political parties were directed to appoint BLAs as follows:

BLA 1: One representative per tehsil to be submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer, UT Ladakh.

BLA 2: One agent per polling booth to be submitted to the respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The DEO instructed that the appointment process be completed within two weeks. Political party representatives appreciated the DEO’s efforts in ensuring transparent elections and Special Summary Revisions (SSRs) over the past two years and assured compliance with the given timeline.
The DEO further directed AEROs to brief BLOs on their responsibilities, while the SVEEP Nodal Officer was tasked with designing a public awareness campaign on the significance of BLAs. The AD DIPR Kargil was asked to ensure extensive publicity, and the DIO NIC Kargil was directed to update election-related activities on the district website.
The Election Cell Kargil will manage and maintain BLA data, sharing updates with the Chief Electoral Officer, UT Ladakh. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks.
