Kargil, September 9, 2025: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, Kargil, organized an awareness programme on POSH Act 2013, Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act and ITA Act at Government Degree College Kargil campus today as a part of the 10-day special awareness program initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India.
The program started with a welcome speech by Aamina Banoo, Gender Specialist, highlighting Mission Shakti and its objectives.
The event was joined by the resource persons from District Legal Services Authority Kargil, Mr Kacho Ali Khan, Senior Panel Lawyer DLSA and Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Kargil.
Advocate Zarina Banoo delivered a comprehensive speech on the POSH Act 2013 covering its objectives, roles and responsibilities, provisions as well as punishments and penalties for violations.
Another resource person, Advocate Kacho Manzoor Ali briefed in detail about the Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act and the Immoral Trafficking Act and briefed about the implementations of the act and its various sections in society.
The event concluded with a question and answer session in which the resource persons cleared the doubts of the participants that included students, professors, non teching staffs and S&TW staffs.
Amoung Participants were, ASHA workers,ANM, AWW (Anganwadi Workers) and Mission Shakti staffs.
The program aimed to educate frontline workers on the PCPNDT Act, promoting informed implementation and community awareness.
