Kargil: Administrative Secretary Law and Justice UT Ladakh Qureshi Tariq Mehmood today chaired a review meeting of the Law Department with the concerned officers from Kargil district at TFC Kargil.
Legal Assistants from various Directorates and departments, Associate Law officers of District Litigation Office and Standing Counsel for District Court Kargil were present during the meeting.
Threadbare deliberations were followed regarding the functioning of the department and matter of litigations pertaining to various government departments.
The Administrative Secretary took a detailed assessment of the number of cases handled by the concerned law officers pertaining to various departments in detail.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Qureshi said Legal Assistant should be a bridge between OIC and Standing Council. The objection should be filed through OIC. He advised for procurement of Digital Software for law officers and standing council.
The Administrative Secretary impressed upon standing counsel to remain closely in touch with the law officer. The grievance of the standing counsel regarding upgradation of his status was given patient hearing.
He further added that ways and means will be explored to allot one additional counsel for each district of Ladakh, Leh and Kargil.
The Administrative secretary further underlined that all communication should be rooted through the DLO Office.
The secretary further directed to make a list of subordinate court cases and share it with standing counsel to sort out missing links.
During the meeting the Administrative secretary gave a patient hearing related to various grievances of the law officers including post creation, accommodation for Law officers at Leh and other issues. He added that ways and means will be explored to resolve the issues forwarded.
Later on the Administrative Secretary visited the District Litigation office, interacted with the ALO’s and took assessment of the functioning of the office and other works.
