Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 Spotted Testing in Ladakh

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 has been spotted testing in Ladakh. The bike is seen undergoing high-altitude, cold weather testing in the region. What is also interesting is that the test bike is being ridden by some of the senior management of the company. The test mule is covered in as much camouflage taping as possible but it does give out a few interesting details about the motorcycle.

To begin with, the front fairing is large, housing the circular LED headlight in the centre with the windscreen sitting on top of it. The fuel tank appears to be substantially large, in keeping with the touring focus of the Himalayan 750. In contrast to the bulky front end, the side and tail sections are slim and quite functional.

Note the high-mount exhaust pipe and the way it sits close to the tail section. This will be useful while wading through river crossings in places like Ladakh while also leaving enough room for riders to mount panniers or saddle bags.

Under the bodywork, there is a new frame and subframe that’s suspended by a USD fork and monoshock. By the looks of it, both the front and rear suspension looks to be adjustable. The bike seen here appears to be riding on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. Royal Enfield is likely to offer tubeless wire-spoke wheels with the production bike.

In terms of features, Royal Enfield is expected to throw in a lot of features. We can expect to see a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, cruise control, and more.

The bike is expected to be powered by a 750cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine that should make upwards of 50bhp and 60Nm. This engine will be paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield is expected to unveil the Himalayan 750 sometime later this year.
